Fluoride
One way to help prevent cavities from forming is through the use of fluoride. Fluoride helps harden the tooth enamel and make it more resistant to tooth decay. A small cavity can be stopped and even reversed by the remineralization process enhanced by fluoride.
Professional fluoride treatments generally take just a few minutes. We offer both a gel and foam options. Typically, it is applied with a cotton swab or brush, or placed in a tray that is held in the mouth for several minutes. After the treatment, it's important to not rinse, eat, or drink for at least 30 minutes to allow the teeth to absorb the fluoride and help repair microscopic carious areas. |
Topical Fluoride is a painless, easy treatment that is often administered right after a cleaning.
