He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry with a minor in Chemistry from the University of Washington before pursuing his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the University of Southern California School of Dentistry. Following dental school, Dr. Hughes proudly served as a dental officer in the United States Navy, where he completed advanced training in general dentistry (AEGD) at Coronado Island in San Diego, California.
With a lifelong love of science and biology, Dr. Hughes was drawn to dentistry as the perfect balance of working with his hands, problem-solving, and caring for people. Over the last three decades, Dr. Hughes has remained dedicated to professional growth as an active member of the Academy of General Dentistry, several local study clubs, and through consistent volunteer work. Known for his empathy and compassion, Dr. Hughes finds great fulfillment in helping patients out of pain and restoring confidence through healthy, beautiful smiles.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Hughes enjoys an active and family-centered life. He and his wife, Mai, who is completing her dental hygiene degree, have been married for 13 years and are raising two children, Will and Emma. Together, they love hiking, biking, and traveling to visit family. Their household also includes two beloved French bulldogs, Chloe and Rosie, who never fail to keep life lively.
